ING Direct Canada now lets you deposit your cheques from your smart phone.
On June 17th 2013 ING Direct Canada and the Orange Key has become the first Canadian Bank in allowing its customers to deposit cheques by taking a picture with a smart phone, it will be deposited immediately in your account via Cheque-In.
This means we can now deposit a cheque as soon as we receive it, without the hassle of going to a bank branch or ABM, and our money can start earning interest right away.
To deposit your Checks first make sure you update the app on your smart phone or tablet to get the option to make check deposits.
Then open the app and log in, notice you will see a new icon called “Deposit” at the bottom.
Pick the “deposits” button and pick the “Get Started Now” button.
Agree to the terms by selecting the “Yes I agree”.
Select your ING Direct Canada Account where you want to deposit your cheque to, the amount of the cheque: your No Fee Checking Account or your Investment Savings Account.
Then press the “front” button to take a picture of a cheque, remember to do the same for the back of the check.
Make sure the cheque image is within the frame on the screen, also that is in a well lit area and that there are no shadows on the image so the cheque can be read by the Orange Key Canada Staff.
Finally click “continue”.
Please don’t destroy your cheque now, wait until ING Direct Canada sends you an email telling you that the cheque can be destroyed.
Also make sure that you don’t deposit the cheque twice in your account, while you are waiting for The Orange Key staff to send you the email telling you can destroy the cheque mark it with something as “Deposited” or “Void” so you make sure it is not deposited again by accident.
